I was able to run multiple instances of my app (same .exe and path) no problem under sp2 rc2. Hey, "our" BDE made the news here: www.eweek.com/article2/0,1759,1624962,00.asp 1. If access any data at all (via the BDE) in one application, all other apps refuse to look at any BDE data returning the BDE error code 15877.

You're right, just setting the PrivateDir will do the trick. Probably first application locks any dll and the second cannot work through BDE any more. any ideas? It is necessary for each application, separate connection in a flow to have the session TSession in which it is necessary to specify unique PrivDir and it is all.

I submitted a bug to Microsoft. It's interesting that this is not just a Paradox problem (yours is the first evidence I've found), but it makes sense as the problem is not in the idpdx32.dll. Yes >Do you know of a way to fix this? The non-BDE apps are using the Microsoft OLEDB provider exposing the MS Jet 4.0 database engine to produce ADODB recordsets.

PrivateDir is the parameter that the BDE & Delphi use to store temporary files (excluding schema files). It seems that the OS will only allow one process "owner" at a time to access this driver.

We've got old releases still in the field, so code changes on our end would patch-update-distribute (very difficult).
